Here a selection of great films @ BUTFF 2020!
Häxan (1922)
We are proud to host this remarkable one-of-a-kind 1922 classic and fully digitally restored film by the Danish director with the pious name Christensen. Probably meant as a warning, it passionately elaborates on paganism and witchcraft rituals as it can be seen as an avant-garde manual for those who are trying to comfort our Dear Dark Lord.
The screening is part of our HOLY SHIT! program and is made possible by the Swedish Film Institute. Pianist KEVIN TOMA will accompany this special screening with live piano music.
Directed by Benjamin Christensen | 122 min.
Dead Dicks (2019)
DEAD DICKS follows Becca (Jillan Harris) as she attempts to pry her way out of a trap, only to be dragged into a world that defies nature and reason — the dilapidated apartment of her brother Richie (Heston Horwin). Answering an all too familiar barrage of calls from her down-and-out, suicidal brother, Becca rushes to his rescue only to find him… and an apartment full of corpses that look just like him. She scrambles to make sense of the heap of dead copies and the strange orifice that is producing them. Forced to dispose of the bodies while the square downstairs neighbour incessantly scolds her and threatens to call the police, she begins to question when this will stop, and how far will she go for her kin.
Directed by Chris Bavota, Lee Paula Springer
Alien Crystal Palace (2019)
A scientist finds the secret that predisposes to the formation of the ideal couple. With this new alchemy, he achieves a pioneering experience: the creation of a perfect androgynous. Starring the iconic Arielle Dombasle and a Serge Gainsbourg-like con-artist, ACP has a highly entertaining, drug-and alcohol drenched story that is too weird to sum up into words.
